The last two days have been tough for Carol. When we went to the hospital for her to get some scheduled shots, they told me she needed to be admitted to Emergency. We were there from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. When she seemed to be breathing better they decided she could go home. When we went back again this morning for the second shot the nurse again said she should be taken to Emergency, which was done. They are keeping her there to care for some heart problems. I have been home for a little while and thought I would pass along some information about her problems.
She is experiencing 'atrial fibrillation' in which the message signals from the upper part of the heart are not getting to the lower part. This causes the top chambers of the heart to shake or quiver, with an irregular heart beat and a rate too high for the bottom part to keep up. Treatment involves several steps to get these chambers settled down and regular again. Carol got to the point where she couldn't get enough oxygen, plus feeling neausea and the other symptoms that go with this. So it is good that something is being done to find a solution. She is a trooper and remains the sweet person she always is. Today's photo is a snapshot of my little patient. The picture isn't all that good so I hope you will overlook that.
