Old in the New

This is not a mural, but a very old building that was included as part of a larger building constructed much later. They just put siding on the new right up to the old and left it there for us to see. :) The arches are way too small for it to have been a firehouse, unless they used motorcycles. This building is in Harrisburg, OR.

Such an interesting old building. Neat capture, Vern.

Too bad they don't have money, or the inclination, to restore it.

What a neat old building. Kinda reminds me of the firehouse in the old "Ghost Busters" movie for some reason. :)

What an unusual way to preserve an old building but add space to it. I love the perspective on the right going down the sidewalk!

Very interesting story and shot.

So much character in the old. someone was brave and decided not to destroy what is history of the area.

Which street Vern, Man for the life of me I can't figure it out and I grew up there...
If I knew the street I might be able to tell you what use to be there. I love the old, not the new. lol

Nice sharp shot of this interesting old building.

Funny, Perhaps they decided to use the old building as a conerstone for the new building... lol

It would be interesting to learn the history behind this old building. "If walls could talk"

Wow, very interesting. That unreinforced brick may not stand up to an earthquake too well. I wonder what that will do to the part build around it.

Very good Vern!

Strange that they kept the old but didn't do any repair on it. What's with the D5000?
Guest 26-Mar-2010 02:27
I think Chris may be right, I though firehall when I first looked at it.
paplvr26-Mar-2010 02:21
How strange to just build around this. Probably some owner who wouldn't give in to the system. Linda S
