Vern, you are making good use of that 12-24 lens, really nice perspective and lead in to the shops and that stair case.
As for the security goons, I get the greatest of pleasure in out witting them (not too difficult) to get pictures - my stairwell pic. on Flickr wa done very close to one of those uniformed wotsits

Nicely composed shot, and yes, shopping center managers have a paranoia level about photos that approaches that of super-secret government facilities. They're under the impression everybody wants to find out the secret to their success, which is a mindset you get when you're the type of person who's busy trying to steal other people's secrets to success.
