Old transformer stations

When the Swedish countryside was electrified during the early 1900s, the transformers for incoming 10 kV to outgoing 380 V was installed in towers built of brick or wood. The towers also contained manual breakers for the power lines.

This form of mounting was ceased in the 1930s, when new transformers suitable for outdoor installations on poles was available. Most transformer towers has been taken out of service and demolished over the years. Today, a relatively small number of towers remain in abandoned shape.
