Vintage Cameras Museum

A replica of the world’s largest camera constructed in 1900 by George R. Lawrence.
Aptly nicknamed “The Mammoth”, it was specially made to photograph the entire length of a single train.
The above replica measures 2.4m x 1.4m which is half the size of the original camera

WOW! That is some beautiful huge old camera. The small, normal, version on the left gives a nice feel for the hugeness of this mammoth.

Really curious as to how the shots turned out. Might need another train just to transport it.

Amazing size, especially considering this is a half scale replica. Developing the glass plates must have been a challenge. Very nice shot with this detail. "V"

the glass plates must have been as big as picture windows...what an amazing sight, brought into good relief by the shadow..
