A Sign Of Hope

The joy on the children's face with their peace sign of hope.

Below is another`Peace Sign' shot which I have captured in Tonle Sap Lake. See the different interpretation of the sign which is suppose to signify `peace'. For this child, it symbolizes money (USD2).

This photo evokes a lot in me. I recognise the girl in the top left of the picture. She was one of the kids I spent a lot of time with up there. A group of kids sort of adopted me, and I adopted them, and I abandoned my arranged 'trek' to be with them instead. They showed me where they stay, how they really live, told me what it's like to work how they do. Not once did they ask me for the usual $2. Instead they tried to share their things with me, made me bracelets, borrowed my camera to make video footage of their environment. They took me to lunch in the back of the markets, and I was treated like a celebrity. It was a great experience. I feel I gave them far more than $2 could ever have done, and they, in return, gave me far more than $2m ever could do...

Superb candid, Flowsnow. I help teach in a U.S. school with almost all Muslim Middle Eastern students. As they leave art class, they always flash the peace sign, often placing it right in my hand. A universal sign!
