Double Take

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

I purposely added in another shot in this image to make it easier for you to imagine what I am going to illustrate to you of this shot. I saw this man walking in the park looking for cans to sell (see the vague image of the left part of this image). It wasn't planned to also include the jogger at the background. This shot reminded me of a `double take' situation of a man searching for cans from the dustbin and the jogger exercising at the park. This shot was taken using the Nikkor 70-200mm VR lens! Yes I just bought the heavenly Nikkor lens.

Nice documentary and treatment. Poverty, a problem in every corner in the world, very sad indeed. Anyway, a nice and reminding shot. V

Phil,

The double imaging was merely trying to merge two pictures to show the viewers of what I wanted to say in my description of the shot. it would have been complete if he only had a can on his hand. I could link another image to this shot but I decided to try this double imaging - quite hard to process since this is the second time I am experimenting with this.
Thanks for your insight about this and I will sure bear that in mind when I do a process like this ever again. :D

You have created a surreal, dream like image here, Tricia -- a world seemingly full of scavengers and poverty, ignored by an affluent society that can afford gardens and fitness programs. I salute you for doing it with such taste and discretion. The secondary image here is subtle, and not blatantly gimmicky. This kind of image works well as an artist's social commentary. This degree of manipulation makes this a work of fiction, not fact. Yet it's fictional component does not take away from the point you are trying to express here. Always keep in mind that when you do this kind of double imaging, to make it obvious. Never do it to decieve or mislead the viewer. That would be unethical.
