Of all the Malaysian festivals, the Indian celebration of Thaipusam is the most fascinating and dramatic. Hindu devotees to Lord Murugan will offer prayers, sacrifice and thanksgiving fulfillment of vows for favours granted. Offerings are focused on kavadi bearing and are accompanied by ecstatic trance where devotees allow their bodies to be pierced and decorated with needles, hooks, skewers in expression of faith and loyalty.
