The Monk & Teddy

Siem Reap, Cambodia

I thought that this image is pretty unique. Take a closer look....have you ever seen a monk holding a teddy bear? I purposely requested the monk to hold the teddy bear (mine of course). Initially he was speechless and probably thought I was `crazy' to ask him to hold the bear. Fortunately the group of monks were `young monks' (probably on their 2 years `pilgrimage', after some will go back on the road without the orange robe). I suppose one of them found it `cool' and actually took out his camera and took a shot of this monk holding Teddy. I wanted to take more shots, again I didn't want to push my luck too far! This was taken at the inside of Angkor Wat.

Nice idea! The teddy adds emotion to the picture, it's refreshing for such a classic shot. Congratulations!

Great idea you have, to ask the monk to hold the teddy bear for this shot. Now you have a blessed teddy bear, assuming he returned it to you ...;-)

You set the stage and it came out as planned including the framing. Vote

Well done! very strange combination indeed, but what I particulary love is his expression, with his quite shye quater of a smile... the background geometric add a lot! The right hand just lays there embarrassed not not to know what to do... An exceptional take! v
