During one of my visits to Akita, I saw a photo exhibition of Komagatake with shots taken at different times of the summer with Alphine flowers dotting the entire mountain range. The pictures were so strikingly beautiful that since then I made up my mind that I had to return to see Komagatake myself. Even though Komagatake only measures some 1637 metres at the highest point, it is as breathtaking as any other great mountain range. Although it was a misty afternoon and our visibility could not go very far, our hike was greeted by a great many specis of summer blossoms and when we reached the top, there were wild Lily everywhere celebrating this joyly afternoon with us. Wouldn't it be nice if one can spend a summer and fall here watching the seasons' color changes?
