Over 15 years in the making - this 7-1/4 inch gauge engine is being built by Mike Darbyshire.
This engine is a true compound. The center cylinders receive the high pressure super heated steam. One side is exhausted to the rear cylinders and the other side is exhausted to the front cylinders. Unlike the prototype, this model will be fired with propane.
I was wondering if anyone was building a triplex locomotive. It looks really cool. I hope it works out well when you get it finish it. I have heard of a locomotive bigger than the big boy caled The Bigger Boy . I am not sure if any of those have ever been built. Best of luck on your steamers.
