The portion of the Scotia Barrens owned by the Pennsylvania Game Commission is under going some habitat management not been used there before. Fire is that tool. While fires used to be a common occurance in nature in recent history man has surrpressed it unknowingly altering mainy natural process and habitats. These photos are from the first of many planned burns whose overall goal is to help maintaian the bareens habitat and reduse potention fuel build up that could lead to wildfires. I hope to keep a running photo collection of the burns and the after effect on the barrens so check back for the changes.
