An early morning shot of the center of Las Vegas. Fremont Street, once the focus of gambling in the city, lies just above the Stratosphere Tower. The high-rent district is in a rough diamond formed by the Stratosphere at top, Mandalay Bay at bottom, Caesar's Palace at left and the Hilton at right.
MGM-Mirage Corp's new City Center project, now projected at $7 billion (US), will go in between the Monte Carlo (the white structure in the lower left segment) and Bellagio (the dun-colored buildings near the left angle).
The major street running between the casinos on the left is, of course, the Strip: Las Vegas Boulevard. The Strip is often gridlocked; a simple evening drive to see the lights can take hours on a Friday.
Interstate 15 skirts the casino district on the left, connecting it to the Fremont Street area at top befor arcing to the northeast and heading to St. George and Salt Lake City.
