La Veta, Colorado (Spanish Peaks Wilderness)

This section of the trail ends over there, at treeline after a set of steep switchbacks that take the starch out of you. From that point the next segment goes up 1600 feet in one mile on scree. Like hiking up a tall pile of loose bricks.
