Hiking time: 550 minutes and 30.57 seconds, or 9 hours and 11 minutes. Wahkeena Trail to right on Larch Mountain Trail to split of Multnomah Creek, turned around and descended to top of Multnomah Falls, reversed course to right On Wahkeena Trail back to car. Lots of climbing on this hike, more than I've done in years.

The Wahkeena Trail climbs from sea level to 1600 feet in 2.5 miles, then descends to 1200 feet. I then mistakenly turn right and climbed back to 1600 feet along the Larch Mt. Trail that follows Multnomah Creek, before recognizing my mistake. Turned around and descended to 800 feet, which is the top of Multnomah Falls. Then after taking in the view, turned around at this 800 foot elevation point and climbed to the high point on the Wahkeena Trail at 1600 feet, then descended back down to sea level.

This was the most strenuous hike I've been on in several years, since before I retired in 2009. I hiked in new Danner boots and even though they are stiffer than anything I've worn since before buying my (now worn out) Vasques, they did not do any damage to my feet, but I can improve on their fit with a slight modification to the socks I'll be wearing. (My Vasque soles wore out and to my astonishment Cobbler Bill told me they could not be upgraded with better soles.)

Took 291 photos of which 126 made the cut. The last time I did this hike (and never had I previously made the mistake in turning the wrong way (up towards Larch Mt. instead of down towards the top of Multnomah Falls)) was October 26, 2001.
