Wanted to get to the intersection of the Franklin Ridge Trail with the Oneonta Trail from the Larch Mt. Trail, but was blocked by a rampaging side-creek at an elevation of 1,650 feet, a measly 50 feet in elevation from the intersection with the Franklin Ridge Trail. This would have been a nine hour hike, requiring use of my headlamp to hike the last hour in the dark. But the creek flow was too dangerous: I did not want to risk slipping and falling in the raging side creek so just turned around. At a minimum, I would have flooded the insides of my boots, an unpleasant experience I pass up these days anyhow.

Still, my hiking time indicated that I got a modicum of exercise: 7 hours, 27 minutes, and 49.63 seconds. I also climbed approximately 2,200 feet, taking into consideration all the ups and downs. I did feel strong throughout the hike and was not fatigued or unsure of my balance at the end of the hike, or anytime during it, as happens to me too often (due to age). Maybe this hike wasn't tough enough to half kill me as my hikes sometimes do, although there were some rather nasty rocky parts, which normally really slow me down and put the fear of God me.
