This is a tarn that has water in it normally through the first part of July. Because of all the 90 degree weather we had for five weeks before this hike, it's bone dry this July 28. Still, very picturesque. That couple is the one who either got lost or decided to do something else when they came to the McNeil Point Trailhead. There are awesome scenic sights if you just keep going along the Timberline Trail past the intersection with the McNeil Point Trail.
