This blow-down is at 2,700 feet, just before the crest of west side Oneonta Canyon which is just before the junction with the upper end of the Franklin Ridge Trail. This section of the Oneonta Trail is distinctive in being extremely sparse with the ground vegetation. It is so distinctive that I vividly remember it from the last time I hiked here decades ago. However, I recall the undergrowth having this characteristic for the upper 500 feet in elevation. Shows how vividly it has stuck in my memory. It made me forget all about the green undergrowth that stretched almost to the crest of the ridge.
