Finally I reach the Larch Mountain Trail for my five mile downhill return, at 2,950 feet elevation. By this time it was getting pretty warm and I stripped off my long-sleeved, thick polyester undershirts and replaced them with a thin short-sleeved polyester undershirt and a then short-sleeved collared polyester shirt with buttons down the front. I also rubbed in sunscreen on all my exposed flesh to keep me from catching cancer over the next 30 years.
