This is the gully that I refused to cross at 6,800 feet because it was absurdly treacherous, and went down the ridge shown on the left instead, until I hit the PCT. But this would be 7 hours later than when this picture was taken. The gully gets tame enough here for a trail to be (relatively) easy to build across it. Unusual. Usually, the gullies turn to canyons the further down the mountain you go. Elevation here is 5,900 feet.
