This sign is at a fork on the Herman Creek Trail. To the left is the Herman Creek Trail, to the right is a connector trail (406-E), the Herman Bridge Trail which leads to the only trail that crosses Herman Creek at a low elevation where Herman Creek is the most rambunctious. A mile from this junction and past the Herman Creek Bridge, 406-E runs into the Pacific Crest Trail, and apparently you have a choice of going UP the trail, or DOWN the trail and to reach my intended destination, I would have had to have gone DOWN the trail, but I missed this option and went UP. So I never got to where I intended to go.
