At each of the 11 switchbacks on the paved section of the Larch Mt. Trail is a sign announcing your progress. Lots of old and decrepit people, say, 10 years younger than I am, struggle up this paved section to the top of the falls, and these old folks appreciate the sense of progress they see from these signs. In my day, old folk didn't need no stinkin' progress signs!
