The last time I was on Gabbert Butte was July 6, 2014. Today is a rare day for this time of year: reasonably warm (50°) and overcast so high that Mt. Hood was visible. Won't see many days like this until Spring, 2015.

Hiking time: 235 minutes, or 3 hours and 55 minutes. This is the longest hike I've been on since the Fall foul weather drove me off Mt. Hood. This was a very enjoyable hike with many picturesque views into the forest. My body loved the exercise I got today, not too much and not too little: a Goldilocks bout of exercise. After the exercise, I felt as if my spirit were free of my body, I felt so sublime. I used the Spider Arca-Swiss Clamp on this hike, which meant I left the tripod at home and took all images hand-held.

Took 168 photos of which 88 made the cut. Started at 33rd St. off of Towle Ave in Gresham, Oregon. Took the right fork of the Gabbert Butte Trail loop. This goes up and down through beautiful little canyons. This branch of the Gabbert Butte Trail circles around and climbs to the summit Gabbert Butte. There it runs into the end of dirt Blain Ave. Going down dirt Blaine Ave descended to Gresham Butte Saddle Trail. Turned right and descended maybe a half mile to the east end of the Gresham Butte Saddle Trail and ended up in a neighborhood. Photographed the street and the street sign, then turned around and climbed back to Gresham Butte Saddle, then turned right (north) onto dirt Blaine Ave and climbed to the top of Walters Hill. Took photos of Mt. Hood in a strong wind and turned around for my return trip to the car. With not much left of daylight, I was forced to beeline it back down to the Gresham Butte Saddle and then powered up very steep dirt Blaine Ave to the top of Gabbert Butte (a climb of 400 feet from the saddle), then turned right on the very steep descent of the other side of the Gabbert Butte Trail and boogied down the 400 foot descent to the trail that ends at 33 St., just in time to avoid darkness.
