Hiking time: 573 minutes and 7.01 seconds, i.e. 9 hours and 33 minutes. Okay, folks. Have patience with this one. Hang in there. This one is gorgeous. Longest hike in several years, both in time and distance. My goal was at 7 miles from the trailhead (14 miles total), but I was blocked by an absurdly dangerous creek crossing that turned me back at 6 miles. So my hike was 12 miles, a little more with two side trips to Metlako Falls, going and coming back. I felt good when I got back to the car and could have easily made the full 14 planned miles if the Park Service had had a safe crossing at that creek.

Took an ungodly 312 images, of which 159 made the cut. That's a lot of snapshots to subject my audience to. But there's a lot magnificent scenery in this selection, some of the most beautiful in the world, and this trail is world famous and the most popular in Oregon. Of course I include my usual "of story interest only" shots that have less aesthetic value, but that's the price you pay for not putting me on your banned list.

There's lots of waterfalls and white water that required shooting at high ISO to stop the action of the water, which, unconventionally, I almost always prefer visually to the cliché which almost every other photographer follows of blurring the water with a slow shutter speed. For those images, I had to use Lightroom noise removal, which is easy enough but adds to the post-processing time. I did include a couple blurry waterfalls for your comparison so you can see for yourself how poor my aesthetic judgment is.
