Angel's Rest, Columbia Gorge, Oregon U.S.A. 2015 01 (Jan) 20
Hiking time: 5 hours, 38 minutes and 58.69 seconds. Temperature started out in the upper 30's and pretty much stayed there as I climbed higher. It was party sunny. Wore two thick long-sleeved polypropylene undershirts and a thick collared silk shirt. It was extremely windy, especially around Angel's Rest which is very exposed. Trail was extremely muddy and slow going returning. It took me longer going downhill than going uphill.
Took 129 photos of which 63 made the cut. Tried to hike to Devil's Rest but trails labeled "Devil's Rest" were blocked by brush. Bushwhacked over the first block and headed up hill for about 300 feet in elevation, ran into another block, skipped over it and after a couple hundred yards it started going downhill so gave up and returned. Total climb: 2,200 feet. My hands were frozen for the entire climb and 20% of the descent, then the temperature climbed into the middle 40's and my hands started warming up.
