Finally, I clamp down a board on top of the glue-up to squeeze everything together. Note this is why the thickness of the Maple and Walnut boards should be the same. I typically leave the clamped up segments in the jig for about an hour before carefully removing the assembly. I usually try to set the glue-up out in the sunshine to speed up the drying process--it should be done in a few hours, but it is good to let it dry overnight.

Note that this assembly will be a bit fragile since you have been doing end grain to end grain joinery.
