Part of the "up close and personal" tour brings you into a recreation of the lunar launches. They told us that we were NOT seeing a mockup, but the actual equipment from the actual control room, and hearing the actual launch sequences. This panel is one of the tracking panels, and would light up as each tracking station reported in. They kept the room dark, like in a movie theater, and would light up each area as it was talked about, or featured in the launch sequence. At liftoff, the entire room was lit from behind us, from the simulated glare of the engine fires. Very impressive.
