KY thoroughbreds.jpgI stopped in Lexington for the night, to ensure a full day for sight-seeing. There was still some daylight, so I drove around looking at the various horse farms. |

cabin at Fort Boonesborough, KYAt Fort Boonesborough, they have set up three cabins to demonstrate the living conditions of the time. This cabin shows how a person who had newly arrived would live. Dirt floor, no windows, minimal furnishings. |

P7200191.JPGThis cabin represents a later settler, who was able to bring more belongings on a wagon. This one has a wooden floor, and a window facing the inside of the fort. There were no windows on the outside walls, except in the blockhouses. |

Cassius M. Clay houseCassius Clay was ambassador to Russia. His daughter was a member of the Suffragette movement. If you take the house tour, you will see all 44 rooms in the mansion. They said the tour takes about 45 minutes. Unfortunately, I didn't have the time to spare. |

Alvin York's Burial SiteIt was intriguing, to me, to see the books carved into the memorial. Very appropriate for a man who founded a training institute after he returned from the War. |
