After leaving Juneau, we cruised up the Lynn Canal and Chilkoot Inlet to Haines, Alaska. The Lynn Canal is America's longest fjord. There is not much to see in the town of Haines itself other than some small museums, but it is a base from which to start many wildlife tours up the Chilkat River. We went on a boat ride down the Chilkoot Inlet and up the Chilkat Inlet to a beach landing on Glacier Point. From here we had a short safari bus ride and walk through a rain forest to arrive at a beautiful view of the Davidson River and Davidson Glacier. We then boarded a 31 foot canoe to paddle to the sheer face of the glacier.
