Here are a couple of scans of 35mm BW neg from a Nikon 4000 ED scanner.
I know the train shot is Ilford pan 50, I would have to check what the machine shop is, probably delta 100 or 400 .

Both shots were handheld with a Canon AE1.

Select original under an image to get the full size, and right-click and save or slide over to look at the truck in the train shot parked between the two poles. You can clearly read the CN in the side of the hood.

So yes, the 1970's Canon AE-1 (plus a really expensive scanner) works great as a 20 Mpixel camera with organic/metallic long term storage. (BW film)
