Nagra Note – I am trying to play back a tape with 60hz neo-pilot tones in the center of the full track tape. I have seen the neo-pilot tones using a 4 track machine.

I have the external Crystal option plugged into the side.

I was hoping to have the tape play back and lock to this crystal or an internal reference.

Clearly I am missing something here. The tape plays back fine, quality good but it does not appear “locked”. If I switch the meter to “pilot” or “sync” during playback I get nothing. If I check the audio level the meter works fine.

I do not need to sync to an external device yet. Syncing to a Crystal is fine as I plan to scale and shift the audio to match a frame by frame scan.

I just need the playback to be stable. I need the neo-pilot on the tape locked to something stable

I do get the white segments on both the right hand indicators, but I think they showed up with no tape installed during playback as well.
