For the mood of the VanGogh, I think the image should be much darker, especially in areas away from the lamp light source. You might also add some sort of detail to the window glass to give a little more realism and a hint of outdoor light. I tried using a gradient with orange and then applied a ripple glass distort filter that worked pretty well.
Finally, I corrected the perspective a little for the windows, picture at upper left and pot at lower right.
Eliminating the frame or using one more traditional to the period might be a good idea.
