There is a lot of confusion because there are several popular wood-refinishing products that have "tung oil" in the name of the product but are actually not "pure tung oil" type of finish. They don't even necessarily have tung oil in them, but are essentially varnish and linseed oil and a few other possible ingredients.

I decided to learn about a "PURE tung oil" finish, not a "tung oil finish" as they are called. The first coat is very promising.
