The fourth and fifth ''John Wick films were originally expected to shoot simultaneously, Director Chad Stahelski explained that the Keanu Reeves-starring series will be paused following ''John Wick'' premieres. Wick: Chapter 4".




In an interview, Stahelski was asked about his plans for the potential fifth episode of the John Wick,'' the development of that has been going on for a long time. In our heads, Keanu and I are done for the moment. So let's just let John Wick a break," the director responded.

He continued to say, "I'm sure the studio has a plan. If everybody loves it, we'll have a quiet minute. John Wick always, for some strange reason, has the latest release date in Japan.

''Keanu and I will take the long drive to Tokyo and have a couple of 20-year-old whiskeys, and then write down some thoughts on napkins. If these ideas are successful, maybe we'll make film," Stahelski said of a possible fifth installment of "John Wick."

The ''John Wick'' franchise first released its film in the year 2014, with Stahelski directing and having Reeves as the main character. Due to its huge popularity, the franchise spawned sequel films, with "John Wick: Chapter 2" and "John Wick: Parabellum" releasing in 2017 and 2019 respectively.

After the release of the third film, the production firm Lionsgate revealed that it was working on a fourth installment, with Stahelski back in his chair as director. However, in March 2021 Lionsgate delayed production on the fifth chapter of John Wick'' opting to simply continue with the fourth chapter. Stahelski spoke about the reasons he decided not to make the two movies at the same time and instead focus on "John Wick Chapter 4 Chapter 4''. "I didn't feel right doing 4 and 5 together," the director said, citing the fact that doing so would require the production of 200 days.
