Three weeks spend in Spain travelling by car. Various sites were visited and all together 166 species were seen. I've started at the Belchite Steppe, then headed to the Ebro Delta were I've stayed for some days. Heading further south, I tried my best with the Trumpeter Finches at Cabo de Gata in Almeria, but in vain. So I left to head towards the famous Extremadura spending some days travelling around various sites. Monfragüe proved to be rather crowded so I left early, went all across Spain again to El Llondo the enter the restricted area. Then I returned to the Ebro Delta were migration was already well visible and first Purple herons among other migrants had arrived. All together few species were missed, among them the magnificent black-winged kite, said trumpeter finches and quite a few herons. Another summer visit will be necessary for most breeding species and greater numbers of warblers.
