This gallery contains pictures of a long overdue trip through Scandinavia. Most time was spent in Norway, where the Varanger Fjord, Runde and the general North were covered. In Finland I visited Kuusamo again and went to a bear hide while also looking for Ural Owl. In kuusamo I also discovered a breeding site for Rustic Bunting due to a female sitting on the road. There proved to be at least three pairs on the road towards Iivara in close quarters. Oulu was visited only briefly, mainly for Pygmy Owl and Horned Grebe. Also a male Surf Scooter on a lake in northern Finland among Velvet Scooters was observed, which was found a couple of days prior to my departure. Poor pictures but an amazing find. Sweden provided an adult male Steller's Eider, which was a nice bonus close to Goteborg.
There are no words to describe the nature and feeling when birding this far north- there are no pictures of the landscape I will show here. Go ahead and do it, you'll never regret a single day.
