Bluebird House Design

The Fred Box, a new design that uses all straight cuts.

This design makes two nest boxes from an eight foot piece of 1" X 6"
cedar, and two 4" sections of 2" X 6" pressure treated pine for the base. The box is mounted on a 5' section of 3/4" EMT that fits into a hole drilled in the base.

1 - Square piece off the end (5 1/2" X 5 1/2")
2 - Rip this piece with the grain to give 2 pieces 2 3/4" X 5 1/2"
3 - 4 pieces 9" long for the sides
4 - 2 pieces 8 3/4" long for the backs
5 - 2 pieces 7 7/8" long for the front
6 - cut the remaining piece, about 20", into two equal lengths for the tops
7 - cut 2 X 6 base to fit - approximately 4" long, and remove the corners for drainage
