This immature female albino ruby-throated hummingbird was banded by Fred Bassett with the Hummer/Bird Study Group, just north of Montgomery, Alabama, on September 28, 2007.
These are very rare birds and unfortunately have a number of things going against them as they try to survive in nature. Their feathers wear out faster than normal feathers, and their white appearance is a sign of weakness to predators. As a result, these birds rarely survive their first year.
