Short visit to El Escorial

Miscellaneous shot taken in "El Escorial" small village close to Madrid, famous for the monastery built by the King Felipe II. Finished in 1584 after "only" twenty seven years of continous work.

The building reflects perfectly the way of thinking in this period (for the King at least) Austere, cold and with clean structure and lines. You can like it or not, but it is impressive.

I love the subtle tones. The dome series is spectacular abstraction. I agree that it is a precise work of art, this monastery, very pure lines. You captured the sense of it beautifully. VOTED
