Xmas 2001 I visited my parents in my home town of Izegem, Belgium. Located in West Flanders, 20 miles from the French border and 40 miles from the North Sea in the NW corner of Belgium it is a fertile rural area with a rich heritage going back nearly a thousand years. In this area World War I was fought for four years, around the river Yser.
