The full moon sets behind the Andes above the ruins of Phuyupatamarca. This 45km long section is the best preserved portion of the Inca trail. It reaches its peak at an altitude of 4215m. Many of the stones on the trail were placed here half a millennium ago, when it was used by Quechua traders.
