Biggest Marble Stone in the Forbidden City

Behind the Hall of Preserved Harmony, in the middle of the stairway, is a huge piece of marble carving of nine dragons playing with pearls. It was said that a well was dug every 500 yards and water was pumped out to form icy roads in order to facilitate transportation! Thousands of men and horses and mules were involved.
