This past year had me traveling to five continents, though many of the visits were either too short or quite challenging. In China, I saw mom recovering from a major health crisis. In Australia, our niece got married. While many of my travels were to places I’d been before: Thailand, Canada, and France, Tunisia was the one trip which afforded me both a new destination and enough time to explore some of the Mediterranean nation’s ancient history and modern transformation.

We were fortunate to visit friends and family in many places, but 2019 was a year spent closer to home.
