'The Army Game' Chelsea Palace 1959

The Army Game, 1959. Several people in this picture went on to illustrious careers in television and film, including Geoffery Palmer in one of his earliest performances (kneeling centre right end), Clive Winter, winner of numerous BAFTA and other awards for sound recording (on sound boom) and Bill Podmore, who became executive producer for Coronation Street throughout the 60s and 70's and contributed greatly to its continued success (at camera on right). Peter Eaton, the producer of the Army Game and earlier of the Goon Show stands 6 from the right in the front row. On Peter's left is another Goon Show writer Maurice Wiltshire, and on his left, Sid Colin. Max Morgan Witts, later to be a successful author stands 4 from the left in the front row. The blonde 'Naafi' girl is Ann Taylor, but I haven't been able to track down anything further about her career.

A wonderful shot - just about remember the series via our Pye set. I only recognise Alfie Bass here (with his hands around the woman front centre).
