The image was shot in RAW-mode. During RAW-conversion, I underexposed the image so that there were no overexposed areas (there were quite a few in the original data).
Then I processed the resulting 16 bits per channel image using the "Shadow/Highlight" function in Photoshop (Shadows amount 25%; Highlights amount 15%, Color correction +40, Midtone contrast +20).
These settings usually provide excellent result for fill light.
Sigh - I would prefer to have such a function featured within the Adobe RAW conversion process, though...
