Some days before my second cycle of MabThera-DHAP. I was not feeling too bad.

Some things I learned concerning DHAP: have the MDs give you the strongest stomach aid which is available, as an infusion three times a day. The Cisplatin KILLS your stomach.

Also, the DHAP protocol had started to permanently damage my body: on day 6 of each DHAP cycle, damage to the inner ear together with a very bad tinnitus started.

For some weeks after each cycle, I could not hear high pitch sounds. Everything sounded like as if it came through wadding. And loud sounds I heard very badly distorted.

In addition, my hearing ability drastically decreased. I became hard of hearing after each cycle.

My hearing abilities returned almost completley after some months. The tinnitus however remained.

From what I have later read concerning the DHAP protocoll in the internet, damage to inner ear is the norm with this protocol, not a rare side effect.

One more note: the damages to the inner ear were slight as long as I received high dose cortisone (40g Dexamethasone every day, for 6 days - in the hospital I was in, it was usual procedure to give lots of cortisone during chemo, mainly for using it as anti-emetic agent).
