This atrocious picture depicts the distinct gray-brown auricular patch of this species. The red forehead is barely visible in this shot. However, the streaked flanks and facial pattern shown in this photo clinch the identification to redpoll species. I noted faintly streaked undertail coverts, which were quite distinct on this individual. Whitish undertail coverst point towards Hoary Redpoll.
