Colima Warbler surveyors informed us that only about 12 pairs bred this year in the park opposed to the average of 55 pairs during wet years. The majority of this wood-warbler's population breeds just below the park in Mexico's Sierra Madre Occidental mountians. The bird is named after its wintering grounds in the Colima province of southwestern Mexico.
