So, I'm sort of obsessed with this building, which I pass on the way to my current freelance client. This building, owned by the General Growth CompanyŽ, is so retro, I feel like I'm walking past 1977 every day. The lights glow with a dull florescence, and I could've sworn I saw an executive fixing himself a gimlet, or a secretary adjusting her stocking tops.

I've had offers to tour the building from people who've heard about my obsession, but I don't want to ruin the fantasy. The minute I see a flat panel monitor instead of the electric typewriter I assume they all work with, the dream is dead.

This intersection merges the Magnificent Mile with the Loop business district. This area is always buzzing with a combination of commuters heading to work, tourists looking to shop, and the panhandlers and street performers looking for commerce from them.

The alley behind The Alley Shops. The Alley Shops have changed less then any other part of Chicago from my teen aged years. They've maintained some kind of purity in that regard.
