Dragonfly on Cypress Stump

This dragonfly did not want to be photographed. I kept trying to sneak up on it but this was as close as I could get.

Canon PowerShot A95
1/250s f/4.9 at 23.4mm full exif

other sizes: small medium large original auto

Wild life and gnarled stumps - 2 for one! Neat.

With eyes the size of theirs, nothing can sneak up on them. It's amazing you could even get this close.

Well, you caught him and very well so that's what counts. I agree with everyone else. They never sit still.

The thing to do is get a 200 megapixel camera, so that you can crop and enlarge a small portion of the image. Of course, they don't make such a camera, but when they do, you might wish to pick one up. Should only set you back a couple of hundred thousand or so... but then, you'll be able to get dragonflies!

...and I thought this was going to be a giant cow patty from the thumbnail. ;-)

The green ones are always the fastest. Good catch.

I know how you feel, I chased some today too. This cypress knee must be rough on the lawnmower.
